Yellow Chicken
In Lee's blog she talked about how she met her hubby. I thought that would be a great story for this lovely Valentines Day. We were both students at Ricks College (yes, it was still Ricks back then). He had just gotten home from his mission and was a tad afraid of girls. The first time I met him was at a church gathering. One of his room mates introduced me as "That girl that thinks she's going on a mission". Future dh responded with "We'll have to do something about that". I didn't think anything of it because he then turned back to the girls he was sitting with and began happily chatting away. A week or so later I was in my apartment and I could hear a friend, J.D., out in the hall yelling at someone. So, I peeked my head out to see what was going on. J.D. was trying to get future dh to ask the gal across the hall out on a date. They were doing a group spaghetti dinner and future dh was the only one without a date. J.D. asked for my help. So, I proceeded to tell future dh that he was "yellow" and a "chicken" and a "coward" and that he should just knock on the door and ask her! She was a sweet girl and I was sure he would have a great time. I called him a chicken again and then he and J.D. left. About an hour later my phone rang. It was future dh. The first thing that came to my mind was "He's gonna ask me to ask my neighbor out! Coward!!" He asked if I remembered him, I said, "Yes, you're the chicken." His response... "Yes, well, the chicken was wondering if you'd like to come to the spaghetti dinner?" I was so embarrassed. I gave a quick "yes" got the details and hung up! I felt so stupid. But, that was our beginning. Luckily, it got better from there.

We have now been married for 9 years. He is my rock. I know that when things get crazy, he will be there. He is willing to sacrifice so much for our family. He does dishes, laundry and puts the kids to bed for me. And the really great thing - he loves me! Who could ask for anything more?

That is an awesome story. You insulted him into asking you out. Fabulous. I hope you had a great Valentine's Day.

I tried the technique on many fellows, but usually it just scared them away. Hubby is the only one it worked on - truely, he is the one for me!
