Bloggy Detox
I feel like I'm in computer overload. I'm gonna take a week off and do a digital cleansing. Well, not a total electronic purging. Mostly just computer. I've had 274 posts since I started this thing in November. And I love to sit down and read every blog in the side bar. You guys make me laugh and I love finding things in common with others. But, in general, I'm sitting at the computer too long each day. So, this will be my intermission. Till then, adieu, adieu to you and you and you...
I won?
I WON! Wahoo! The sweet gals over at Mums The Wurd held one of the Dog Days of Summer Giveaways and my name was drawn! And the prize is fantastic! It's a Body Shop sample kit that will be ever so much fun! Head on over and check it out! And thanks so much!! :D

And the Winner is...
First of all... thank you! I have never had so many comments on this humble little blog in my whole life! I am so lovin this! :) It was so fun to participate in the Dog Days of Summer Giveaway! Second... when I went to print my contestant list it said it was 14 pages long! So, I've been editing, pulling out unnecessary items (the time of the post...) and put it in columns...blah blah blah blah blah. Finally got it down to 3 pages! I should have just used a random number generator... but my comments aren't numbered and I had promised the kids that they could pick the winners... so, I got all the cutting and folding done...

I gathered my awesome help...

(Little Bug wasn't interested... notice I made the kids shower and bath before we did this... I was afraid you'd be able to smell the little turkeys!! How do they get so stinky? It hasn't been THAT long since they bathed...) The kids pulled all of the names out of the bowl... the first name for the red purse was...
For the winner of the blue purse we have....The brown bracelet winner is....The winner of the blue bracelet and earrings is...And finally... and this one made me laugh...I had to retake some of the pictures because the kids had a hard time holding still... so it looked like "awhero;isdfngn;jdasori" had won... yeah. The kids were super disappointed that they didn't get to draw more names... and I kind of was too! I wish I could have had something for everyone... Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer has said that she will probably do this again in the fall... so, we will do this again in the fall! Thanks again to everyone who participated! I will be contacting all of the winners to get addresses to send your items out on Monday!
Kid Moments
Little Bug - last night he had a horrible time getting to sleep. Up, wandering around, impatient, upset, getting into everything and anything he could. I laid down by him and he pulled my arm across his chest and positioned my hand on the back of his head. He was craving deep pressure. I let my arm rest heavily on him and my hand push into his head. He slowly calmed. His breathing evened out. I watched his big dark eyes with those amazing long lashes flutter as he fought sleep. He yawned... and... wait a second? What was that smell? He yawned again... his breath smelled sweet yet tangy... it smelled a lot like my Mango Altoids. Sigh. Not sure why we bothered to brush his teeth before bed. He smiled at me and drifted off to sleep. A few moments later he pushed my arm away, rolled over and slept. Mission accomplished.

Red - not sure what time he got up today. He is an early riser. His energy and gusto for life just won't let him sleep in. And usually, he's so swept up in that energy that he awakens the rest of the house so that we can all have an adventure today. Most mornings, I drag my sorry butt out of bed to see what he's up to. But sometimes I roll over and go back to sleep. Today, he seemed to sense that I needed to sleep in. He didn't come in till after 8:00! And he kept the other two busy so that I could get some extra rest! I love it when this thoughtful sweet child shows up at my house! I wish he could stay...

Baby Girl - she came into my room with red streaks all over her face and arms. At first I thought it was marker... but it had a very distinct peppermint smell to it. And this is the conversation that followed:
me: What are you eating?
BG: I'm not eating anything.
me: You have red all over your mouth... did you eat something?
BG: No. I did not eat any candy canes. (yes, we still have candy canes... that happens when you buy 200 of them at Christmas time)
me: You need to ask before you eat treats. Don't just take things without asking. Ask me first next time, okay?
BG: OOOOHHHH! (Says this like she's understanding it for the VERY. FIRST. TIME.) I ask you FIRST! I forgot to ask for the candy cane. Sorry Momma
Yeah right. She's not sorry. A little later I was washing her hands and she started to scream and cry saying that I was getting her "owie" wet. A closer look revealed a little bit of candy cane, not an owie. She is a busy little thing. She's getting so big. The things that come out of her mouth just amaze me. Maybe it's because the child just older than her, Little Bug, doesn't speak. Or, maybe she's just an amazing little kid. Not that I'm biased or anything...

Countdown
Screaming. Crying. Laughing followed by screaming and more crying. Now that Red is home, this is what my days are filled with. He is a tease. I admit that he gets it from me. I'm a horrible tease and now I regret it with every ounce of my being. I don't remember teasing till the tears came, but I probably did. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depends on your perspective) Baby Girl has decided to defend herself - hitting, kicking and pinching being the weapons of choice. To top it off - tattling is at an all time high.
And we've been doing activities... got out all the wooden blocks today and we built a city - complete with zoo. We did some workbook and coloring pages this morning. We played with the Weebles, Thomas the Train set, and other various toys. But as soon as the organized play stops... the chaos starts.
So, in honor of my sanity, I've put a countdown in the sidebar. At this very moment we have 38 days, 12 hours and 11 minutes and 16 seconds till they go back to school. I think I'll just sit here and stare at it - watching the seconds tick away while they run wild.

Sleep - Who Needs it?
Some of you may have noticed that I have a poll in the sidebar about how much sleep you get each night. I'm an 8 hour girl. I don't always get 8 hours, but I am pretty much nonfunctional if I get less than 8. Actually, it's been a really long time since I've gotten 8 continuous hours of sleep. My nights are all tainted in some way or another. Case in point: last night we were reviewing our budget. Always fun. It was midnight when I finally crawled into bed. As I'm trying to sleep all I can think about is a song from Barbie's Princess and the Pauper movie. Yeah... "If you love meeeee for meeeeeeee..." And that goes on for WAY too long. I finally drift off and this is what I dream about.
Yes... I dreamt about that specific video. Kind of a restless sleep. Then, Red gets up to use the bathroom... he falls asleep in there. So, I get up, knock on the door, he finishes up, and then leaves the light on in the bathroom. Which lights up our room perfectly. So I get up... only to realize that I should NOT have drank all of that water right before bed. I finally get back to bed and Barbie comes twirling back into my brain... and then she duels Harry Potter. So, when Little Bug brought the Root Beer to me at 7:00 this morning, I was NOT ready to get up! I am grateful that he slept in though... he's usually up between 6-6:30. I would love to be able to say "Tonight will be different" But that would probably be a lie... it will just be different songs, movies and kids. And now... I'm off to do laundry! Joy.

p.s. my giveaway post is no longer a sticky post... it was confusing Carrot Jello ;) .....but if you'd still like to enter, just scroll down! There is a direct link at the carnivalat Rocks in My Dryer, so there's really no reason to have a sticky post.

Harry Potter : Deathly Hallows
If you are not done with the book DO NOT READ THIS POST!! Stop right now! I'm going to talk about the book... in detail. This will ruin it for you if you read this post... you've been warned... I take no responsibility... okay?! Spell check is gonna hate this post...

Okay... here we go! I have so many mixed feelings about this book! So, I'm going to talk about the things that really disappointed me first... there were a lot more deaths of what I would consider "main characters" than I had been led to believe. JK Rowling said that there would be 2 main characters that would die. And yes, I'm gonna count Hedwig in this. She's been there for Harry when he thought everyone else was gone. Then there was Mad Eye and I thought "Wow - she killed off those 2 main characters pretty quick!" But then she killed off Dobby. And I bawled like a baby. Never saw that coming. Not in a million years. Then, the jerk killed off Fred and I really cried! Hubby thought I was going crazy. That death was followed by Snape's - which made me sad because I always believed that he really was working for Dumbledore... then we have Lupin and Tonks! And that just made me mad. She created ANOTHER ORPHAN! Grrr... then, of course, Voldemort! Good bye to the bad guy! But I was so disappointed that so many of these characters were gone. Sigh. I was also disappointed in the epilogue. I want to know where George is. What does Harry and Ron do for a living? And all of the kids had great names... but where was little Fred?!? I was also frustrated with some of the language. :( There's been occasional cussin in the others, but more mild words. And if they did say something really bad she described it as "colorful words" or something like that.
Okay... there are more things that bothered me... but... onto what I loved! I WAS RIGHT! WAHOOO!!! If you will go to this post here you will see that I TOTALLY predicted the thing about the locket! And that it was Regulus (sp??) Ha! Fantastic! :) And I loved that Harry was nice to Kreacher and that Kreacher ended up helping them out so much! I loved the end battle where just about everything in the school marched against the bad guys (including the desks!) and the main bad guy - who is a coward - hid. I love that Snape was a good guy and that the last thing he wanted to see before he died was Harry's eyes... which, as we know from all the other books, were his mothers. I love that Neville pulled that sword out of the hat and took care of the last horocrux! And I love that he totally transformed into this super leader! So awesome! I love that when Ron left and then came back, Hermoine didn't run to him and hug and kiss him (which is what I was expecting). Oh no, she beat the crap outta him! Oh yeah... lol...
Okay... I'm done for now. More things that I'd like to write about, but this is already stinkin long! I'm excited because Hubby has REFUSED for YEARS to even touch these books... and now he's reading them!! Finished book one last night! :D So... tell me! What did you love? What did you hate? Did you have any burning questions left after reading this one? If so... share and maybe we can figure it out together!! :D

No Spoilers Here
I'm not going to talk about the book... but I am done. It took me about 11 hours and 50 minutes to finish it. Hubby took care of the kids all day so that I could get it over with. He loves me :) Is anyone else done?? I'm going to write my thoughts about the book... but not today. Probably sometime next week. I know there are a lot of people who aren't done and I don't want to ruin it for anyone. But, when ya finish, let me know, okay? :D

Mischief Managed
I'm turning this into my Photo Hunters pictures... the theme is "tiny". See all the "tiny" details in our craft project from this afternoon?? It's a stretch, I know, but as soon as I get my book, I will not be on the computer for any reason what-so-ever. So this will have to work :)
We made wands in honor of the last Harry Potter book :) The kids and I had a ball doing it... well, Little Bug was not interested at all, but that's okay. The other two had a lot of fun.

Little Bug's wand details:
My wand (yes I made one for me) details:
Baby Girl's wand details:

Red's wand details (the modge podge and glow in the dark paint aren't dry yet on his... thus the white stuff in both pictures)

Want the instructions to make your own wand? Visit Dad Can Do for the details! Till next time, enjoy our "tiny" wand details :D

Harry Potter ... again
If you're not into Harry Potter, I'm sorry. I wish I could say that this will be the last post about it, but that would be a lie. I don't want to lull you into a false sense of security. Consider yourself warned.
Have all you Harry Potter-ites heard about the spoilers that are circulating the Internet? Someone has supposedly scanned EVERY PAGE of the book and posted it. I'm curious - do you like spoilers? Or do you avoid them? When you get your book do you read it from the very beginning? Or do you scan through and find out who dies first then read?? I've read some of the spoilers - but they are all different, so they can't all be spoilers, can they?! I like the adventure of it all, but I hate being shocked with the deaths. So, I admit it. I scan. I prepare myself so that when the time comes I'm not too overwhelmed by it. And not just with the Harry Potter books. I do it with almost every book I read. I have a friend that has begged me to read it cover to cover without peeking. I might try it this time, but, um, we'll see.
And, for those of you who voted in the poll, here are the results:

Harry will live/Voldemort will die
6 (42%)
Harry and Voldemort will die
3 (21%)

Not sure who will die but it will have a happy ending
2 (14%)
Not sure who will die but it will be a sad ending
1 (7%)
Who cares about Harry Potter?
2 (14%)

I was going to put Voldemort lives and Harry Potter dies, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. If she ends it like that I will throw away all my books! So, any last minute predictions? Thoughts? I don't want you to post spoilers here... just your own personal thoughts. AND, after you've read the book, if you want to comment about it, please let everyone know that it's about the book. Don't ruin it for others. Just a few thoughts that I had... I think the locket is at Sirius's old house - in one scene they are cleaning out a room and they find a big heavy locket that no one can open... I think it's the horocrux. Which also makes me think that R.A.B. is Sirius's younger brother... it's a thought. I might post something again today (not Harry Potter related) but if I don't, you probably won't see me for a few days! Enjoy your books everyone!!

(p.s. spell check wants me to change all the Voldemort's to Vladamir - somehow I think a Lord Vladamir wouldn't have been as frightening)

Yesterday
My house is totally trashed. And when I say totally, I mean that there is not a corner to be found that isn't a mess. So yesterday I rallied the kids around me and we started cleaning. But, soon, they were getting out more toys and just playing around. So, I tried again to explain how good it would feel if we had a clean house. Again, they started to clean... only to be distracted with a good bean bag chair fight. So, I threatened them. "I'm going to vacuum in 15 minutes. Anything in my way will be sucked up and thrown out." Now, my 8 year old knows that it isn't really possible for me to vacuum up his soccer ball, but, he does know that I have thrown toys away before. This is motivating. The kids get to work. And so, I start to dust. Might as well do something useful while they are getting their toys picked up, right? Wrong. As I reach for a spot that has an obscene amount of dust on it, I feel it. The twinge. You know the one you get in your back that just screams "NOW YOU'VE DONE IT!" I slowly lower my arms only to feel the pain intensify. Nausea overwhelms me and I feel like I need to run, not walk, run to the bathroom before I puke everywhere, but I can't move. So, I lie on the floor. Which feels worse than standing. I have Red pull out some Advil and I take as many as I think I can without killing myself. I've thrown my back out - again. This is the second time this year. The first time I threw it out while I was answering the phone. Someone called early in the morning and I jumped out of bed to get it before it woke the kids. And now, I've thrown it out while dusting. I lead a dangerous life, don't you think? The good news? Sitting up totally straight feels the best right now. Which means: I can still blog! WHEW!! Dodged a bullet that time...

7 Interesting Things You Probably Don't Know About Me

My cousin, Mandy, tagged me to do this... so, here I am. I am trying really hard to think of 7 things you might not already know. I'm boring. To a fault. So, I'll try to spare you the really dull stuff and find some shining pieces of my life... maybe.
  1. I was a flagger for road construction for 3 summers. At one point in time I had stopped a guy on a motorcycle who was headed to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. He asked me if I'd like to come along. He told me that no one would notice if I just propped the sign up next to a tree and jumped on the back of the bike and away we'd go. Being the TOTAL stick in the mud that I am, I declined.
  2. I am a pack rat in recovery mode. I have notes from friends in Junior High. I have broken old toys that I keep because they were a gift from someone special. I have hot spots (the FlyLady's term for piles of papers) everywhere. But, I am slowly trying to get these things under control... very, very slowly.
  3. I can play the piano fairly well, but I tell people that I can't. I have a supreme fear of playing in front of others and so I back out at every opportunity. Even if I have to lie.
  4. I grew up in Idaho. In some part of that state for about 25 years. There is snow in Idaho for about 6 months out of the year. Yet, I have never ever skied. Some of the greatest skiing is only hours away from the home where I grew up (or so I've heard). Why have I never gone, you may ask? Because I am extremely uncoordinated. My brain will tell my body one thing and my body does something else... which translates into injuries. Lots of them.
  5. I love to learn new crafts, but I'm not really good at any one thing. I'm a Jill of all trades, master of none! But when I do learn something new, I usually try to teach myself. Which, is why I have never mastered anything. I get to a point and just can't figure out the next part...
  6. I called my Hubby "yellow" and "chicken" and "coward" the first time we met. He's easily impressed. ;)
  7. I have lots and lots of nicknames. Missy, Magoo, Pancho, Miss Liss, Lissa, Missy Jo, Joey, My Lissa, and my all time favorite: Moose. Don't ask

So, now it's your turn! Tell me 7 interesting things about yourself... or you can do what I did and just list random facts and hope that someone finds them interesting ;)

Rocks in My Dryer had a very interesting idea that I wanted to share. She's calling it "Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway" The basic thought behind this is that lots of different bloggers will do give-aways at the same time throughout the blogosphere. Anyone can participate. It will be a carnival of sorts. I've decided to participate... not sure what I'm going to give away yet, but I promise I'll let you know. Everyone who is participating will start their giveaways on July 23rd and announce a winner on July 27th. Curious? Interested?? Head on over and get the info and then be ready to play on July 23rd! Oh, and you don't have to give something away to get something :) Mr. Linky will be up at Rocks in My Dryer starting on the 23rd and then you'll be able to go to all of the sites and leave comments to try and win!

Return of the King
Red is home! YEAH!! And my awesome Mom did all of his laundry on Sunday evening so that he wouldn't be bringing home a bag full of work for me! Ah... she loves me! :) It's always an adjustment when he gets back from Idaho. This was his 4th year going, so I was kind of expecting the little troubles, but I had secretly hoped they just wouldn't happen. Secret hopes: dashed to bits. You see, I had hoped that he would come home unspoiled, still very polite and willing to jump in and help. Because that is the young man that left my home. The young man who came home is a little different. If you got to do whatever you wanted all day, had others insist on caring for you, and no one requiring a please or thank you for a month, it would probably change you a little too. And I'm not faulting family at all - he's a guest and that's how they treat him. But now he expects to be treated like a guest in his own home. Yeah right ... like that's gonna happen. If I can't be waited on, then no one can! Right now he is playing with and/or teasing Baby Girl and Little Bug. My home is filled with spurts of laughter followed by squeals of delight which quickly turn into screams of terror that are followed by crying. And then it starts over. Ah... how I've missed him!

Any Dream Will Do
Have you ever had a dream that was so real that when you woke up you felt like it had really happened? One time I dreamt that Hubby was leaving me and I woke up crying. I threw my arms around my peacefully sleeping Sweetie and cried my heart out. Scared the crud outta him. Kinda funny now... but at that moment, I was heartbroken! I've had other dreams that are like action movies. Unfortunately, I'm not usually the heroine. I'm usually the victim and HUBBY is the villain. Just so you know, this is NOT a reflection of real life! But I do love the dreams where I am the heroine. Like last night - I was a karate chopping warrior! Defender of nations! Again, it was a very real dream. In it I had great hair and a body of steel. I awoke and the intensity of my disappointment still lingers with me, my friends. Where did my beautiful hair and body go?? Maybe I should go back to sleep? Or maybe I'll just go have a fudgesicle...

A Fountain of Chocolate Goodness
Hypothetically speaking...is it wrong to have a fudgesicle for dessert if you had Cocoa Krispies for dinner?

And now, an important chocolate service announcement:

For all of you who live in Utah or might be in Utah for Thanksgiving - you need to go to this: CHOCOLATE SHOW. That's right... it's like a craft show, but it's all about chocolate. Perhaps Utah really is Zion... at least for 3 days ;)

This week's theme is "Shadow". For awhile, Baby Girl was quite obsessed with shadows and she insisted on having a picture of hers.

The Spray Paint Precursor
Good idea: Encouraging your child to be creative and artistic.
Bad idea: Encouraging your child to be a graffiti artist by practicing tagging in the back yard.

At least it's washable.

I was thinking about a few things today...and decided to turn it into a meme. Anyone can play along... off we go!

5 things you hate to do, but you do them anyway:
  1. Putting on makeup - because I just have to take it off 12 hours later and then reapply 12 hours after that. :P
  2. Making my bed - too much effort, not enough reward.
  3. Shopping for groceries - it's too tempting to buy the stuff I want (ice cream, oreos, peanut M&M's) rather than the stuff I need (toilet paper, bread, milk).
  4. Laundry - it's never done.
  5. Getting dressed in the morning - I'm a pajama kind of girl. If I can stay in my pj's all day, then it's a good day!

5 things you love to do, but never get to do

  1. Quilting - takes too much time to get all the stuff out and too many helpers rearranging pieces
  2. Making jewelry - again, too many little hands
  3. Going on good long vacations - we get some short ones, but not really long breaks
  4. Buy clothes for myself - I always go into the store with the intention of getting something for me... but come out with something for the kids or hubby.
  5. I love to eat at Johnny Carinos, but the closest one is an hour and a half away. So, it doesn't happen very often...

Okay, your turn! What are 5 things you hate to do, but you do them anyway and 5 things that you love to do, but you never seem to get around to doing them! Let me know if you participate!

We May Have Lost the Battle...
Well friends, we have fought a good fight, but I'm afraid I have lost the most talkative award. Shocking, isn't it? I'd like to thank those who nominated me and contributed to my campaign fund (no refunds - sorry). You can check out all the wieners... erm... I mean winners at An Island Life. Actually, there are several on there that I read and really like - Amber at Crazy Bloggin Canuck, Daring Young Mom, BooMama, and Diary of Nello. And, if you'd like to check out the blog that beat me, well, that would be Bloggin with Lori B. So, congrats to all those who got the super cool buttons for your blogs. I'm grateful just to have been nominated...blah blah blah... ;)

The Big One
Last night one of our local news stations had a half an hour program about earthquakes. Apparently the area where we live hasn't had a large earthquake in a long time. So, we're due. We basically live on the San Andreas Fault. So, I watched this show... and I did glean a few important things. But mostly, I learned how to put on a news show about earthquakes. Here are a few things I thought you should know about this very important subject:
  • If you're going out to visit a fault like - drive a Hummer. Then, at least if there is a huge quake and the earth swallows you, you'll look cool.
  • Use dramatic banjo music when talking about Southern California. Betcha didn't know they HAD dramatic banjo music, did ya?!
  • Use really bad camera work to simulate what it will look like if you have an earthquake.
  • Use scare tactics by talking about all the CHILDREN who have DIED in earthquakes
  • Did you know that San Diego and Los Angeles will be neighboring cities... in 15 million years. I love it when scientists make predictions that NO ONE living today will live to see. I guess they can never be proven wrong that way...
  • Scientists make bets on earthquakes
  • Did you know they have quakes on the moon? They are called: MOON QUAKES
  • When the earth starts to shake, it will be too late to prepare.
  • Preparation will either help you or kill you.
  • If there aren't any BIG earthquakes in the recent past... go back a couple hundred years and talk about the big quake of 1609... yeah...
  • Find some insane person to talk about the BEAUTY of a fault line.
  • And now, my favorite quote from the evening: "Get some action on the seismograph"

So, as you can see, all in all it was a very informative half an hour. Good thing I had a Hershey's bar to keep me company...

You Are Dr. Pepper

You're very unique and funky, yet you still have a bit of traditionalism to you.
People who like you think they have great taste... and they usually do.

Your best soda match: Root Beer

Stay away from: 7 Up

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Bloggity Bling
Kailani has started an AWESOME new site called "An Island Review". On the site she lists contests and give aways all over the blogosphere. She is even holding her own contest for some fantabulous earphones for your iPod or MP3 player! They have fantastic pink Swarovski crystals. What more could a girl want? Go check out her contest and maybe a few others. Who knows? You just might win some bloggity bling!
Irregular Introspection
Okay - so the title today was going to be "Random Thoughts" but I've used that before. Have I ever told you how much I love thesaurus.com?? It's how I try to make myself sound smart! So, today will be like a lot like gambling for you, dear reader. If you're not the gambling sort, I suggest you go else where.
  • The kids love me again today! They went to bed at a decent time last night, they slept in, and they are happy to be awake today. Hopefully this is not some kind of ploy to lull me into a false sense of security... I can see them doing something like that.
  • Have you ever watched "Age of Love". It's stupid, really, and yet I found myself watching last night... wondering if this guy, who is 30, will choose the 21 year old or the 49 year old. You know, the lady who TECHNICALLY is old enough to be his MOM!
  • Red comes home on Monday! I miss him so much!!! It's so fun to have him go and visit family and friends in Idaho. He gets to do some great things. Yesterday he went to Day Camp and had a ball. But he is ready to come home. I love to hear his voice say "I miss you Mom!" I can't wait to give that boy a squeeze!!
  • Red isn't the only one out of town - Hubby has been gone too. He doesn't have to travel a lot, but I hate it when he does. I'm ready for him to come home now. I have a super duper mega ultra over active imagination. Yeah. Sigh.
  • How much chocolate can one person consume in a day? Did you know that the amount consumed will be directly proportional to the amount of perceived stress in that person's life? Yesterday I had 8 brownie bites (yes they really were bites - 1" square- which reminds me - note to self: do not bake ANYTHING remotely delicious while Hubby is away...yeah, the brownies are gone), a Take Five candy bar, a Reeses Peanut Butter cup - just one cup though, some left over chocolate frosting - yes, just the frosting - love that stuff, a fudgesicle and a few other random chocolates. I'm not sure how to calculate the stress that is represented by that amount of chocolate. I never did take a calculus class. But I think it's a lot.
  • Don't forget to vote for me! TODAY is the last day...

Enough for now. Hopefully it wasn't too brain numbing for you. If I come up with a real post later, I might write again.

Conspiring
I think my kids are plotting against me. At first, I thought it was just paranoia on my part, but now... well, I really believe that they are trying to do everything in their power to make me crazy. Let's take the last 12 hours for example. Baby Girl went right to bed last night. Little Bug, on the other hand kept getting up, wandering around, and laughing at me when I told him to get back in bed. Finally, he went to sleep around 10:30 or so... my mind is a little fuzzy on the exact time. Then the devious plan was for Baby Girl to get up at 2 to use the bathroom. Now, she's almost 4. She can go to the bathroom by herself. Unless they are plotting against me and then that renders her completely incapable of doing ANYTHING by herself. So, up I get. Now, on her way to come get me out of bed she has taken her little blanket and hidden it. So, when the bathroom stuff is all done she wants the blanket. NOW. Won't go to sleep till it's found. But she won't get out of bed to look for it. Man these guys are good. I find the blanket, half throw it at her, and crawl back into my bed. The icing on the cake - 6:00 wake up call from Little Bug and Baby Girl sleeps in for one of the first times EVER. Why couldn't they both sleep in? Oh yeah. I forgot. They are trying to make me loose my mind through constant steady sleep deprivation. And apparently the plotting goes further than that... Baby Girl laughed and laughed and laughed when I stubbed my toe this morning. Seemed to think that any pain I was feeling was all for her amusement. And Little Bug keeps closing windows on the computer, taking programs off the desk top and then shutting the computer down. It's only 8:00 AM. I can feel the madness starting to settle in ::twitch, twitch::

The Vote is ON
So, the voting has started over at Kailani's... and I really want to win that Most Talkative Blogger award. So, I wanted to come up with a cool banner or slogan or something... but the best slogan I got was "Vote for Me". Lame, eh? Oh well. So then I thought if I'm going to have such a boring slogan, I could at least try to spice it up somehow... at first I went with this...
But I thought the chilies were a little to literal for "spicing" things up... so, I tried this...
But I want people to know how TALKATIVE I am. Not how kick butt awesome I am... but I didn't have any pictures that really represented "talkative". So, I went for my super star power...
But we all know that I'm no SUPER STAR... so then I went for something a little more calming....
After all, who doesn't love a nice paisley?? But that still didn't seem quite right... so I went for something a little more ... me...
And then I got tired of making these darn things. So, go on over to Kailani's and vote!! You might recognize some other great bloggers up for other categories too. And yes, I tried to put as many links to Kailani's polling post as possible!

This week's theme is "fake". Now, I've blogged before about how I like to quilt. I enjoy piecing everything together and watching as the design unfolds. It is very satisfying to me... unless it's 118 degrees outside. Then, sitting with piles of fabric all over me is almost unbearable! Yes we have air conditioning, but it still makes me super warm to be sitting there with half a blanket covering me. It's uncomfortable. I get cranky. Then I make mistakes... which makes me MORE cranky.
So, when I heard that my sister was going to have a baby girl I said, "Hey, I'm going to piece quilt for your new baby!!" I made one for her first daughter, it only seems fair that this little darlin should have one too. But, I committed myself to this back in April/May when it wasn't so hot. The baby is due in September. I started a blanket... messed up the pattern, picked it all out, tried again, got way too warm and way too cranky, messed it up again and threw the darn thing across the room. Then, I loaded Baby Girl into the car, headed to the fabric store and bought a "fake" home made quilt:
Now, TECHNICALLY, I probably could have made this. BUT I DON'T WANT TO! And gosh darn it, that panel is stinkin cute! So, there you have it. Please don't ask me if I'm going to tell her the truth about where this came from. I don't like to lie... but I will... if you make me.
Bloggy Hoss Elections
HA! Guess what? I've been nominated for "Most Talkative" over at Kailani's Bloggy Hoss Elections. It could be because I have a bad habit of posting SEVERAL times a day... sigh... but look at me now! All of my blogginess has paid off! I am a finalist ;) Voting starts tomorrow (Saturday)... So, head on over and vote for me! A vote for me is a vote for world domination...er... peace... yeah, I meant peace.

*This is a sticky post - please scroll down for recent posts

Here we go! Annie over at Anniethology and Hot Fuita Moms had a page set up for the Good Mail Girls. Recently, she closed the list to new participants, but encouraged us to set up our own Good Mail lists. Several of you have expressed interest in this, so, I thought I'd start a list. You will not be able to put posts on the blog. It will be a list of names, addresses, birthdays (if you want to share) and your blog link. I encourage you to post about your good mail goodies on your own blog. But, you don't have to have a blog to participate! This is open to anyone! Are you interested? If so, you can email me from the link in my profile with your info and I will send you an invitation. This will be a private blog. It will only be open to those who are invited! So, let me know if you're interested! I'm going to make this a sticky post (I think I've figured out how to do that... ) for a week or so... hopefully everyone that would want to participate will see it there. Also, if you know others that would like to participate, just send them this way! After all, who doesn't love to see a letter mixed in with the bills and credit card applications?
Red's Grand Adventure
Some people ask me how I can stand to have Red gone for a month and how can he handle not being here. It's simple really - we drive each other crazy. We are usually at a point of screaming by the time he gets to take his trip. But, I miss him after a very short period of time and he gets homesick. The only thing that makes it easier is knowing that he is having more fun there than he would be here. We've locked ourselves in for the next month or so. It's hot. Forecast of 121 either today or tomorrow... can't remember. ANYWAY, he's able to go outside in the mornings and evenings and even a little bit during the day when it's not too hot. Yesterday he had a particularly great day. My parent's town has a big, long parade where every person with a vehicle over 20 years old joins up. You have never seen so many 1975 Dodge Chargers in your life! And every person with a horse comes to let it poop on the street. And if you have a dance school, singing class, preschool or daycare, you throw ALL the kids in the back of a truck and make them yell out things about why YOU are the best. The parade has a limited number of floats and NO ONE THROWS CANDY! I mean, come on! Why go to a parade if you won't get candy? That's just silly... anyway, everyone seems to think that this parade is the most awesome thing in the world... which is why my family skips it and heads here:

It's called "The Riot Zone" and they had a ball! I guess there was one other family there. Red was able to get off one go kart and get on the next one. They gave them extra long rides on the bumper boats and they were able to take their time in mini golf because there was no one else playing. They had the whole thing to themselves. So, for me, knowing that he's having days like that makes the time away worth it. That and the fact that the PlayStation hasn't been turned on for 3 weeks now.

Hey Red! If you're reading this - I love you! I miss you! And I can't wait for you to come home in a week and a half! Have fun with Grandma and Pop Pop :)

Ratatouille
We went and saw the latest Pixar animation tonight - it was really great! I enjoyed it and so did the kids. Baby Girl kept saying "I love that movie... I just love that movie" as we walked back to the car. It made me laugh, and, as with all Pixar movies, it had a message. Always nice. But, it got me thinking about a time we were on a road trip and stopped in a little town for some fast food. All the kids needed to use the bathroom, so we took everyone in. I'm in there helping Baby Girl wash her hands when an employee comes out of one of the stalls and goes back to work. Didn't even look at the sinks. Didn't even PRETEND to wash her hands. Just walked out and started preparing food. We left. No food for us, thanks. To me, that's worse than having a meal prepared by an animated rat. I'm just sayin...
Oh... and happy Fourth of July y'all!
Amazing
This is long... and the guy is kind of a dork, but who am I to talk? I'm not "kind of" a dork. I AM a dork. And I can't do this...

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
So, I'm sitting here at the computer reading email when I start to notice a rather odd odor in the air. I sniff... wait... sniff again... it smells like something is burning. It gets stronger. I run and grab Hubby and have him come to our room to take a waft of air. He comments that it smells like burning bugs. And what do you know... that's exactly what it is. You see, we have one of those old lamps that they don't sell any more because they can cause fires. Why do we still have ours? Well, it was a wedding gift. And we are way to cheap to buy one that won't have a problem with spontaneous combustion. Actually, it wouldn't be that spontaneous. The thing puts out a lot of heat. ANYWAY... apparently it also doubles as a bug zapper. Smoke issue solved and as a major bonus: there is one less fly in the world tonight. This makes me very, very happy.
