Simple Supplication
I love to hear my kids learn to pray. There is something sweet and sincere about their words as they innocently (or not so innocently) ask that "Mom and Dad will give us ice cream" or "Everyone everywhere will sleep good tonight". My favorite prayer to hear right now is Baby Girl blessing the food because it usually goes something like this:
Hebbenly Fadder
Fank you ::chomp chomp chomp:: for dis day ::swallow...sound of utensil getting more food::
Fank you ::gulp drink swallow:: for we can be happy ::clanking of cup and dishes followed by silence and then me whispering -keep going-::
OH YEAH (muffled because her mouth is full of food)
Fank you ::crunch crunch nibble nibble:: for dis fooooood...mmm... yummy...

And on and on it goes. Can there be a more thankful prayer? She is showing her gratitude for her food in the most sincere way. At least, that's what I'm going to tell myself till I can convince her to wait till after the prayer to eat :)

Gee, and I thought the Hurricane was alone in sneaking food while she prays. :-)

that is just too cute! I can imagine her with her eyes squinted almost shut, but open enough to keep shoveling food in.

Have you gotten a picture of it? ok, that might be a smidge sacreligious, but too hard to pass up!

Kathleen & Heather- it is cute... I'm just hoping she's not still doing it in 10 years...not so cute then!

Amber - My oldest did this too... I think it's just a kid thing... I'm sure that Bode will enjoy his meal while praying too :D

Justine... hmmm... that is a thought. I wonder what dh would do if I tried to take her picture??

Works for me! She's more than cracked the first and more important hurdle.
Cheers

I loved this! My 3 year old does the same exact thing. It's so hard to keep a straight face when trying to tell her that we should wait to eat until AFTER the prayer. Too cute.
