Clothing - It's a Good Thing
We went to the beach to spend time with family and it was insane. INSANE I TELL YOU!! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to the beach on the 4th of July! At least, not a Southern California beach. There were so many people camped out that you couldn't find a way to get from the road down to the water's edge. It was stressful for me and for the kids.
And, may I just take this moment to say that I completely understand the whole "love the skin you're in" concept. I'm down with that. We all come in different shapes and sizes and we should love who we are. BUT, this does NOT mean that we need to SHOW EVERYONE ON THE PLANET the skin you're in! I don't care how big or how small you are - I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR BUTT! I've never seen so many butt cracks in my life! It was just a tad on the gross side. And we won't even go into the excessive amounts of cleavage and other body parts that needed a few more yards fabric.
I actually felt like the odd man out. I was in capris and a t-shirt. Obviously, I was WAY overdressed for the occasion. I guess I'm not brave enough to wear a handkerchief and some string... or maybe I just don't love myself enough ... or maybe I just love everyone else enough not to burn their corneas out by that horrendous sight.
Whatever the case may be, you'll always be able to find me on the beach. I'll be the one wearing clothes.

Lol! Me too.
I see you changed your look up again. it's been a while.
It's sad. And gross. Really gross. on the other hand, handkerchiefs cost less than capri's.
Oh, Melissa! You crack me up! I'm the one on the beach with the shorts on over my swimming suit. And they NEVER come off in public.
Hahaha! I warned you about it being crowded! :) Yeah some people have no class with regards to what they wear in public...I don't want to see their butts either!
Bwahahahah! Burn their corneas out...bwahahah! You have such a way with words!
You are too funny! We want to a big water park yesterday and I thought the same thing about loving the skin you're in. Especially in regards to bikinis. There is nothing more unflattering than letting it all hang out!
Yep...last summer at Huntington Beach, Lauren and I were among the VERY few who were modest...and it was windy and freezing, for Pete's sake! :0
I hear you. Once you see some of that you just can't unsee it. Ewww.
I'll recoginze you because I'll be dressed just like you ;o)
You made me snort! lol!!! Too funny! :)
Oh, I know the feeling. I do have to admit that I didn't see as many thong bikinis as I have in the past.
I do hope you were able to cool off a little.
i can just imagine the beach. a sea of people... before you can see the sea =)
i've made that observation, too. we've become a society that shows more skin than ever before. and i'm not just talking about the beach and bikinis. there is so much more cleavage showing. a sign of the times, i guess. the problem, like you said, is when people are showing off too much and they really - really! - shouldn't.
Ha! And never go to Disneyland around Christmastime, either! (Go on New Year's Day.)
I always thought there should be a weight limit on some articles of "clothing."
Did you run into any crazies running around in the nude? I don't know why, but often when I went to the beach, I always ran into a nudist or two, or partial nudists...ah, So. Cal!
Burn their corneas out!!! Snort!! I am sure you are so far away from that it would take yoiu a billion years to arrive at that point.
