In Honor
I've changed the blog again. Change is good, right? Monday is Veteran's Day. I think that many people look at it as a day for the kids to be out of school. To hit some great "Veteran Day Sales" at some of the department stores. It doesn't seem to have a lot of meaning for a lot of people. But it should.
I don't know how to honor the men and women who have served or are serving in our military. How do you thank them for leaving their homes and their families and facing horrors that most of us will never know? How do you thank the families who lost loved ones in the war? How can they ever be repaid? I don't know how to do it.
So, in my silly bloggy way, I'm going to try. I changed the banner. It isn't much. But it's something. I'm also going to pass on blogging on Monday. I won't be reading or writing. Kind of my moment of silence in cyber space.
If you have family or friends who have served or are serving now, tell them that a stranger in Southern California says "Thank you." And if you yourself have served.... thanks.

Your Veteran's Day header is great, and so is this post.

Great new header! I can't believe you do that yourself!
I love the tribute. I think remembering and teaching our children are probably the best ways to honor that sacrifice.

Melissa--that is so wonderful. I agree that they can never be repaid. I am so grateful for the freedom we enjoy. In Canada, it is Remembrance Day--so at 11 a.m. on the 11th there will be a moment of silence. It's a great way for everyone to remember.

I wish I could express what this holiday means to me. I too add my thanks and love for all of those who do and have served for our great country.

Veterans Day and Memorial Day sales irritates even the compulsive shopper in me. Really.

My Dad served two terms in Nam. He came home with a Purple Heart, and two Silver Stars.

He also came home with a lot of scars that to this day he still won't talk about.
