Witch Kitchen Update
First of all, I am not in love with my new blog look. Anticipate a few changes in the next little while. Second, the kids and I have been working on our Witch Kitchen and we are having so much fun! We haven't done the labels because we aren't sure exactly what we want each item to be. I think we're going to put each ingredient name to a vote. I still need to paint lids and wrap some twine around the necks of the bottles, but I thought I'd share what we have so far! From left to right: a jar full of paper stars that I think we're going to call "lucky stars" as in "thank my lucky stars"... the next jar has white rice in it and we are thinking of "werewolf lice" or some kind of larvae. The next bottle is colored water with toy snakes in it and it will be "basalisk oil" because that's what Red REALLY wants to call it. The last bottle is full of almond slivers and it's going to be ogre or goblin or troll nail clippings. Can I get a collective "EWWW"? Thanks.Next picture: again the "basalisk oil" and the "nail clippings". In the blue cauldron we have "stewed fairy wings" or something like that... it's fiber fill that I use to stuff pillows. If you shape it and then spray it with enough hairspray, it will hold it's shape. Hopefully it looks like steam or smoke coming out of the cauldron... does it look like that? Be honest...the tall container in the back is full of chocolate eyeballs which will be "troll/goblin/ogre/cyclops eyeballs". The small container in the front is black eyed peas and will be "fish/brownie/fairy eyes". In the big amber colored canister we have a fake plant that I think will be "poisoned poison ivy" - I'm going to take my glue gun and make it look like the plant is oozing and then I'll paint the glue black or dark red. The next bottle is a yellow plastic lei with green water and it will probably be "hobgoblin intestine". I'm going to cover the top of the jar so that you can't really see the yellow... the tall jar in the back is "the sands of time" and it's just table salt. I'm thinking of tinting the salt red or orange or yellow. Not sure which... the next container is "dried dragon livers" and it's just a dried purple onion. Finally the heat down here is good for something! I pulled the onion apart and set it on a cookie sheet out in our 108 degree weather. Ta-dah! Dried dragon liver! The last container is actually a drink mixing thing... I don't drink so I don't know what it really is. And actually, I am not 100% sure it is a drink mixing thing. ANYWAY, now it's a container for mixing potions.Baby Girl helped today by painting the backs of the moonstones. The front of each stone was painted with glow in the dark paint. Then she covered the back in purple paint just to make them stand out a little more in their glass jar.
And there you have it! We have a few more jars to fill, labels to make, and then it just needs to be arranged so it looks awesome! Wish me luck :)

And the Witch Kitchen is a delightful, spooky idea.

I think it looks great! And the fiber fill totally looks like smoke, I thought it was at first. Honestly.

I had to highlight the post to read it because the orange barely shows up over the black tie-dye look.

Ah so clever. I saw the price of Halloween candy/costumes/decorations today and decided on the spot that we'll be sitting this year out.

That is so clever!

There's some nifty halloween and fall themes at The Cutest Blog on the Block. Of course, their stuff is rather en vogue right now and perhaps you'd rather be unique. =)

Hey, I left you a few ideas on the other post.

Looks good! Now all you need is a cauldron and a book of spells. Cackle, cackle, cackle!

you are sooooo creative! everything looks great. and, yah, the fairy wings cauldron looks exactly like it's brewing. before i read what you wrote, i looked at the picture and thought... how did she get that to smoke? good job on all of them.

so you'll have these displayed somewhere on halloween where people can see them?
