Trim the Tree
Just a few pictures of our tree decorating extravaganza from yesterday...
Baby Girl loved to just sit and stare at the lights even before we had the ornaments on it.
The kids all took part in hanging the ornaments and would then stand back and admire their handiwork...

If you'll notice in the picture right above, there is a rather large clump of ornaments on the bottom of the tree... I was going to leave them, but Little Bug had put some glass and some heavier ornaments all on one branch. I was afraid they would fall and break, so I rearranged a few. Not many, but I don't want to loose any of these ornaments! Little Bug also got to put the star on top! He's never done it before. Never shown any interest in it till this year. But he knew exactly what to do with it!

And then we have the finished product. The first picture is with the flash, second is without...

We had a great time listening to music and talking about the ornaments. When I was a kid my mom bought us ornaments each year and put them in a box. We would talk about them and she would tell why she had bought each one. When I got married, I got my box of ornaments. It was so fun to explain all the ornaments. My kids each have a box of ornaments in our garage. We're going to sit down this evening and talk about what each one means and why I got those specific ornaments. This is one tradition that I really love and I hope my kids will love it too!

So funny and so true. I'm still mystified how anyone could 'miss' a fifteen foot tree suddenly appearing the middle the house but.....?

May this year.
Cheers

What a beautiful tree! :-) It looks like everyone had a great time. And what a wonderful tradition with the ornaments as well.

Happy Holidays!

It looks so pretty! I love it when everyone shares their decorations. I rearranged some of our ornaments after the kids were done too!

Such a lovely tree! And what a great tradition. I need to start something like that.

The tree looks so beautiful, Melissa. I've given my kids their ornaments when they have left home. I must admit it will be sad when these last 3 leave home--what will be left on the tree????

I have never sat them down and told them why I bought them--love that idea.

I'm so glad Little Bug got involved this year.

we have that same ornament tradition and this year when we were putting them on we couldn't find Lean's ornament from 2003. We eventually realized it was a silver frame with her pic in it.

she was really freaking out thinking we for got a yeat.

your tree looks fab, and so big!

I STILL love just sitting and staring at the lights!

My kids have special ornaments too, but my two oldest want to leave them with me on the family Christmas tree! Maybe my youngest will want to take his...

I need to try some shots without the flash because having it lit up just doesn't do it justice. Yours is beautiful and I so wish I could put out presents before. Unfortunately, my children would open them. :-)

I love the picture of Baby girl staring at the lights.

Your tree looks beautiful. I also love the idea of the ornament box for each child. We take our kids each year to choose an ornament. I should incorporate the box idea though.

The tree looks beautiful and we have some of the same kinds of clumps of ornaments in spots near the bottom. Those are the best parts :o)
