Disappointed
Before you read this article, you should probably know that I'm extremely disappointed in the new information that JK Rowling has revealed. Disappointed enough to possibly change my opinion on the series... that being said....
To all the Harry Potter fans, did you read this? :(

I may just toss my books and my movies. Why couldn't she have left well enough alone?

I agree with Dedee- Why now? She's not getting enough attention anymore?
That makes me angry.

I do have to add that I'm as cocerned about this quote as I am the other,

"also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."

Do I really want my children to be reading books by an author who wants kids to question authority? I'm going to have to give this some serious thought.

I don't get it. Why now? It doesn't even make sense. Ten years from now are we going to find out Professor McGonagell used to be a man???? Such silly stuff.

Was she missing the spotlight or something? Sheesh, that seems just so silly to me. What was the point? Makes me crazy.

I read that...it doesn't matter to me. The story is written and I enjoyed it.

melissa,
so sorry your bubble was burst about something you enjoyed so much.

i never liked this series, but tolerated watching some of the movies because my hubby and daughters like em.

totally unnecessary and really messed up (what is she thinkin????) that the author had to go here. what is this? now that the series is over, she has to stir up something like this just to milk this out??? she has just ruined it for so many little kids and parents who loved her series for what it was until she tainted it by revealing this garbage about a fictional character. it is so freaky weird to hear a fictional character as being outed for being gay. i am disappointed, too. sorry melissa for i know how much you reveled in this series. happy Sabbath, kathleen

I'm just glad she didn't out him IN the books. Then I'd really have to stop reading them.

I was disappointed in this, but I supposed I can't say I'm surprised given this culture of acceptance that in which we live. Honestly, it hasn't affected my enjoyment of the series and I'll still let my kids read the books. They don't need to know what she said.

i had heard this but was, and still am, confused. does it say in any of the books (obviously i don't read the books) that he was gay? if not, then why would she tell the world he's gay now? what's the purpose? does it have any effect on any of the storylines?

just wondering.
