The Great Gingerbread Adventure
I have never made gingerbread. That's right. NEVER. So, why in the world did I sign up to bring a gingerbread house to our church's Christmas dinner? I HAVE NO IDEA! And now I'm stressin a little bit! What in the world was I thinking? I have put houses together before, but that hasn't always worked out really well. They tend to lean a little bit and cave in on themselves. Fantastic. What have I done?? Is gingerbread hard to make? Will I regret this for the rest of my life? I admit that I love new crafts, but I don't really like to display my first try for the world to see... maybe if it turns out badly I'll tell them that the kids made it... yeah... that would work... right?
Any tips for making amazing gingerbread houses?? I'll take whatever you can give me!!

    Umm...so...buying a kit at Target isn't an option? That's what I do. Or! There's now gingerbread flavoured graham crackers, that could be good...

    The gingerbread must have the consistency of brick, otherwise your house will literally fall down.

    By a kit and be done!

    Maddy's right. I have a good recipe for those bricks, too. But it takes awhile to make. Let me know if you want it. (It's basically inedible, but it makes a terrific house)

    I would buy the kit too. But here's my royal icing recipe that works really well. The icing that comes in the kit is pretty weak.

    I would DEFINITELY buy the kit. In fact, when I went to Safeway I saw one that looks like real gingerbread, but then again, who ever eats the thing????

    We always used graham crackers as a kid. They are way stronger than gingerbread! Have fun!

    yes the kit! Use lots of icing to fill in any 'bad' spots.

    they have those kits that have the walls and roof already put together so that'll save time too
